Attics, garages and cellars

Areas you don’t use too often such as your loft space or a cluttered garage often provide the perfect home for mice to nest undisturbed. You might also use these rooms for storage, providing mice with various materials from cardboard, paper and fabric to line their nests.

Voids in walls or ceilings

You might think you’re hearing things if you notice scratching or scurrying noises in the night but it’s quite common for mice to set up home inside your walls. The gnawing rodents have been known to cause expensive damage to insulation and electrical wiring

Inside or behind cabinets or appliances

Kitchens give mice easy access to a food source and places to hide if they can squeeze behind your cabinets or appliances. Areas where pipework comes into your house from outside can also give mice the opportunity to enter your home so it’s worth a look behind the washing machine too.

In outdoor areas

Inside sheds or around outbuildings are also common places to hide a mouse infestation because you probably don’t visit these places too often, especially during winter. While you might be relieved that they’re not inside your house, it’s still advisable to act on mice infestations that are outside your home as leaving them to nest will only make the problem bigger and they could easily end up inside your home.
